Da Nang International Airport is one of the three busiest international airports in Vietnam, after Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Da Nang International Airport has a major role in serving air traffic as the gateway to Da Nang city and neighboring provinces. This airport facilitates over 150 flights including domestic and international flights with the daily capacity of 15,000 passengers.

1. Location:

Da Nang International Airport is located in Hai Chau Dist, approximately 01 kilometers east of central Da Nang city with convenient traffic.

Aerodrome reference point: at Latitude: 16° 02’38’’N, Longitude: 108° 12’01’’E, which is a coordinate identified by World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS- 84);

High reference point: 11 meters against the medium sea level.

2. Development process:

Da Nang International Airport was built by French colonialists in 1940. In the war against the US, Da Nang International Airport was the air base of the US Army and Republic of Vietnam’s  Army.

Since 1975, Da Nang International Airport played as a military airport of Vietnam People’s Army ensuring national defense security. In the process of country’s development, Da Nang International Airport was opened for civil operation for socio-economic development objectives of Danang city in particular and the Central Highlands in general.

Da Nang International Airport has 02 runways, is equipped with lighting system, air navigation aids system, instrument landing system – (ILS, DVOR\DME, NDB) for flight operation in adverse weather and low visibility conditions; runway lighting systems; automated weather observation systems, emergency rescue system, advanced apron, etc. The airport is able to serve large commercial aircrafts such as Boeing 747, Boeing 777, AN-124, MD-11, etc. taking off and landing in all weather conditions.

3. Passenger terminal:

Passenger terminal opened for operation in December 2011, with the total investment of 1,300 million dong, covering of 36,100 square meters. The terminal has the annual capacity of 6 million passengers, 400,000 ~ 1 million tons of cargo and is qualified for continual passenger growth.

This international passenger terminal building was furnished with modern equipment, advanced aviation technology and provided with aeronautical and non-aeronautical services. The terminal has 09 boarding gates, 04 boarding bridges, 02 customs counters; 20 immigration counters; 08 conveyor belts; 11 lifts, 06 elevators, 02 Frist-class lounges, 02 vip lounges, 02 lost&found rooms, 03 travelling information counters, 01 terminal information counter, 01 first aid room, 01 newspaper counters, 20 service counters, banking service counter, ATM system, etc.

4. Aviation operations: 

During the last few years,  Da Nang International Airport has seen a high increase in the volume of passengers arriving in and departuring from, the average growth rate of 15%/year. At the present, the terminal serves average daily flight movement of 150 flights and passenger volume of 15,000 passengers.

In 2014, the airport saw 4,989,987 passengers, facilitated 15,730 tons of cargo; accommodated 38,618 flight movements.

Now, the airport has 03 operating domestic airlines (Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific and Vietjet Air) from Da nang to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Buong Ma Thuot, Pleiku, Can Tho, Vinh, Hai Phong; and 8 operating international airlines from Danang to Kular Lumpur (Malaysia); Incheon, Busan (Korea); Teipei (Taiwan, China); Shanghai, Kunming  (China); Siem Riep (Cambodia; Bangkok (Thailand); Singapore; northeast provinces (Russia)… (Vietnam airport)
